The use of quantitative methods of cytochemical studies covering the nuclear chromatin in the determination of cell cycle phases. III. Methods according to Einarson and Alfert and Geschwind

The studies have dealt with the nucleic acids and histones changes in the nuclei during the cell cycle phases on the cultures of mouse fibroblasts stemming from two strains C3HM and NM. Two methods were applied. Quantitative changes of DNA were determined with Einarson's method while those of histones with Alfert and Geschwind's method. In the second method staining with Coomassie blue at pH 8.0 was applied instead of fast green. The quantitative changes of nucleic DNA and histones were estimated by means of cytophotometry. Values of measurements correspond to DNA and histones quantities in particular phases of cell cycle.
