Toxicity of certain sudanese plant extracts to cercariae and miracidia of schistosoma mansoni



International Journal of Crude Drug Research 28(4): 241-245



Forty-six plant extracts were tested for their toxic activity against cercariae and miracidia of Schistosoma mansoni. Thirty-five of these plant extracts showed miracidical and cercaricidal activity at a concentration of 10,000 ppm;5 were toxic at 50-100 ppm concentration. These were Phytolacca dodecandra, Tamarindus indica, Acacia nilotica, Hibiscus sabdariffa and Tacca leontopetaloides.
