Undersowing smooth stalked meadow grass for seed in winter barley in autumn

Undersowing smooth stalked meadow grass for seed in winter barley in autumn

Tidsskrift for Planteavl 92(3): 199-204

In order to find the best method of undersowing smooth-stalked meadow grass in winter barley in the autumn ten trials were carried out at the Government Research Stations Roskilde and Ronhave. Seed rates of 100 and 200 kg per ha were used with 12 and 24 cm row spacing combined with 60 and 120 kg nitrogen per ha and fertilization of 120 kg divided into 60 kg applied early and 60 kg applied late. Economically the best result of the cover crop and 1st seeding year together was obtained when using minimum seed rate, maximum row spacing and 120 kg nitrogen per ha as divided application.
