Differences in reported scores of 273 college students on the Edwards Personal Preference Schedule in comparison with published norms are noted. Two possible explanations are offered. Social changes in the lifestyles of college students since the norms were published in 1959 may influence scores and their interpretation achieved by a more recent generation of students. Alternatively, there may be some inherent instability in the instrument.
