Abstract
The virion polypeptides of bovine herpesvirus-1 purified on a cushion of 40% sucrose gradient in an ultracentrifuge were separated clearly by vertical slab gel SDS-PAGE using discotinuous buffer system. In 10% and 7.5% polyacrylamide gel, 21 virion polypeptides were resolved. MW of virion polypeptides resolved were 180K, 150K, 130K, 115K, 107K, 97K, 77K, 74K, 66K, 64K, 62K, 60K, 55K, 45K, 42K, 33K, 28K, 24K, 22K and 18K. Out of these 21 virion polypeptides, some major virion polypeptides were studied for their immunogenicity in rabbits. These polypeptides were 150K, 90K, 77K and 55K. 150K and 90K polypeptides induced SN antibody with an end point titre of 128, 77K polypeptide induced SN antibody with an end point titre of 96 whereas 55K polypeptide induced SN antibody with an end point titre of 256.
