Zinc manganese copper and cobalt contents of some soils of bangladesh

An investigation was conducted on zinc, manganese, copper and cobalt contents in top soil of 19 soil series of Bangladesh. Total and available fractions of these elements were determined using boiling aqua regia and 1N NH4 O Ac-EDTA (pH 4.65) respectively as extractants. It revealed from this study that available zinc, manganese and copper contents in these soils are marginal to adequate while the cobalt content is generally low. Their total contents in whole soil and silt fraction are moderate to high declining from younger toward the oldest parent materials. Total contents of these elements do not vary widely is soils developed on similar parent materials.
