By using indicator plants (alfalfa, red clover, wheat and rye) the author examined the effect of growth and soil on the Mo content of different feeds. Simultaneously with the foregoing examinations hair and wool samples and also samples of internal organs of slaughtered animals (kidneys, liver, ribs, cerebrum) were collected for studying the Mo load of cattle, sheep and horse. Results were compared to those obtained in the surrounding countries. Soil quality, growth and breed of the plants had considerable effects on the Mo content. In comparison with data of neighbour countries indicator plants and internal organs of animals tested had 10-21 and 20-40% less Mo in Hungary. In practical feeding no Mo deficiency occurs in Hungary and danger of Mo load is also limited, however, due to overfeeding with Mo secondary Mo deficiency may occur time-to-time.
