Application of the computerized image processing for analyzing two-dimensional electrophoretograms in the field of molecular biology

Since Dr. O'Farrell reported his high-resolution two-dimensional electrophoresis in 1975, many fruits of the method have been born. In parallel with the advance of the separation method, hardware systems and programs for analyzing the two-dimensional images were also developed. The most advanced systems provide us a convenient tool for comparing two images and assigning unmatched spots to the specific protein if it has been registered in a protein database.
