Clinical and immunologic assessment of the efficacy of UV irradiated blood autotransfusions and hyperbaric oxygenation in the treatment of patients with atopic dermatitis complicated by a secondary infection

Clinical and immunologic assessment of the efficacy of UV irradiated blood autotransfusions and hyperbaric oxygenation in the treatment of patients with atopic dermatitis complicated by a secondary infection

Vestnik Dermatologii i Venerologii 0(2): 30-35

Autotransfusions of UV irradiated blood (ATUVIB) with the use of Isolda MD-73 device were included in multiple-modality treatment of 94 patients with atopic dermatitis complicated by a secondary infection. The treatment resulted in a rapid improvement of the general status in all the patients, itching alleviation, and resolution of pyoderma foci. In 71 patients clinical cure came sooner then in the reference group. In 23 patients residual symptoms of the skin process were treated by hyperbaric oxygenation course with the use of Oka-MT pressure chamber. Improvement of the clinical status was in line with a trend to normalization of the immuen status, more marked in cases when ATUVIB was used: absolute and relative lymphocyte counts, E-RFC, theophylline resistant and sensitive E-RFC counts were elevated, the ratio of theophyllin resistant to sensitive E-RFC counts was reduced, as was the level of circulating immune complexes, and the neutrophilic phagocytic activity was growing.
