Compared morphology of the heart and major vessels in lizards of the Tropiduridae family from the Restinga de Barra de Marica, Marica, Rio de Janeiro

Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciencias 65(4): 413-426

Thirty eight hearts of the lizard Liolaemus lutzae and seventeen of Tropidurus torquatus coming from "Restinga" of Barra de Marica, Marica-RJ (Brazil), have been studied. It is the first time that the hearts of these species have been analysed. The morphological analysis consisted of mesoscopic observation and light microscopy aiming especially at building a wax model allowing knowledge of the anatomical and histological structures.
