A close similarity in the processes of formation of olfactory and gustatory organs was found for two species of the Acipenser genus. It was proved that the development of olfactory and gustatory receptor structures in ontogenesis is heterochronic. Embryos have a well formed olfactory system prior to their leaving the shell, while the gustatory receptors only emerge at the stage of larval mixed feeding.
