Effect of breed and fattening technology on the linear measurements and slaughter criteria of steers of the brown cattle breed

The study was conducted with 70 male not castrated calves, 33 F-1 crosses with American brown cattle (ABC) (ABC times BBC) and 37 animals of Bulgarian brown cattle (BBC). Fattening began at an average age of 130.7 +- 44.63 days and ended at age 405.2 +- 42.73 days. Fattening consisted of two technologies of feeding: I - traditional in a cattle shed tied to a crib; II - industrial - free, in groups on a fender. The effect of genotype times technology interaction in all slaughter indices was highest and with high statistical significance (P lt 0.001). Lower, but also proven (P lt 0.01) was the effect of age at the beginning of fattening. In the industrial complexes fattening of F-1 crosses was more effective, while pure bred animals produced better results at the traditional technologies. Age at the start of fattening was a more important factor in the case of industrial fattening and affected positively live weight at the time of slaughter.
