Effect of heat shock on auxin-dependent growth of maize coleoptiles and the state of the auxin receptor in them

Experiments were carried out in etiolated maize sprouts to investigate whether the inhibition of the growth of maize sprouts by heat shock is associated with decreased ability of auxin-binding proteins (ABP) of binding auxins or with the inhibition of the subsequent events of the transmission and realization of hormonal signals. The results of the study showed that heat shock did not decrease the ability of ABP to bind auzin. At the same time, heat shock decreased ABP concentration in the membrane fraction of coleoptiles. Apparently, heat shock blocks growth reaction not at the stage of auxin and ABP interaction but at the subsequent stages of the transmission and realization of hormonal signal. Data on the effect of heat shock on auxin-binding ability of ABP and its content in maize coleoptiles were obtained for the first time.
