Vegetation and microfield experiments revealed the increase of crop yield and nitrogen removal by soya plants inoculated with nodule bacteria during local application of ammonium nitrogen in soil at the depth of 15 cm. The local application of nitrogen stimulated the growth of soya owing to improved nodule formation, increased symbiotic nitrogen fixation and amount of atmospheric nitrogen in plants (determined by method of isotope 15N dilution), removal of 15N fertilizer and decreasing its losses from soil. The losses of 15N fertilizer from soil increased at the absence of the nodule bacteria.
