Effect of no genetic factors about the days open in Holstein herds in Minas Gerais State

Effect of no genetic factors about the days open in Holstein herds in Minas Gerais State

Ciencia e Agrotecnologia 20(4): 511-515

To evaluate the effect of some non genetic factors on the reproductive performance, days open, of holstein herds from the Holstein Breeders Association of Minas Gerais State, 3,425 complete lactations were studied. The data were collected from 1989 to 1991, and a minimum square method through the computational pack LSMLMW, was used. The statistical model included the effects of calving year, herd:calving year, calving season and calving age on the days open. The estimated average of the days open was 125.38 +- 0.98 days with a coefficient of variation of 45.8%, influenced by the effects of calving season (P=0,0000), herds:calving year (P=0,0000), calving season (P=0,0025) and quadratic effect of calving age (P = 0,0785). It was concluded that the effects of a calving year, herds: calving year, calving season and calving age are importants sources in the study of the days open. The days open was the factor that most contributed to decrease the reproductive performance in the studied herds.
