Field experiment was conducted in clay loam soil during rainy seasons of 1986 and 1987 at Ghaghraghat to study the effect of N sources and levels of N in deep water on direct seeded rice. Deep placement of USG was found superior to all sources with regard to grain yield, yield attributes, N uptake, recovery and response in both years. The per cent increase in grain yield by USG (P) was 3.8, 6.07, 15.3 and 18.6 over NCU (B), LCU (B), PU (S) and PU (B), respectively.
