Effect of varying levels of nitrogen and phosphorus on yield of linseed grown on vertisols and their residual effect on hybrid sorghum as succeeding crop

The pooled results of field experiments indicated that applications of 60 kg N ha-1 and 30 kg P-2O-5 ha-1 either alone or in combination recorded maximum and significant increase in seed, dry matter and total biological yield of linseed. However, maximum and significant increase in oil content of linseed was observed due to 20 kg N ha-1 and 30 P-2O-5 ha-1 when applied alone and in combination. Highest and significant increase in grain and straw yield of hybrid sorghum (succeeding crop) was recorded when 60 kg N ha-1 or 60 kg P-2O-5 ha-1 was applied either alone or in combination to preceding crop of linseed.
