Genetic analysis of the character tomato leaf resistance to Alternaria solani

Resistance to tomato leaves to injuries of A. solani was studied in the system of a diallel cross for the purpose of using efficiently the identified donors in practical breeding programs. It was found that the genetic control of the character resistance of tomato leaves to A. solani was achieved by a system including additive, dominant and epistatic effects. This fact was evident from the values of the linear regression coefficients. Change in the direction of hydridization led to changes of both the coefficient of linear regression and of the position of the individual cultivars. This is an indication that the action and interaction of the genes determining the character studied were subject to changes. The studies proved the genetic equivalence or differences between the lines and cultivars, which is of considerable importance for their use as donors in the practical breeding programs for tomato resistance to A. solani.
