Genetic differentiation of Scots pine subpopulations affected by industrial pollution

The level of allozymous variability in 8 loci controlling the synthesis of GOT, GDH and SOD has been investigated in 100 trees of three subpopulations and young Pinus sylvestris L. trees, exposed to different degree of emissions of the big chemical enterprises. The high level of the allozymous variability was found in the investigated plants on the southern border of area irrespective of the age and origin. The average level of the observed heterozygosity was higher than the expected one according to Hardy-Vinberg's equilibrium in all the investigated plants, but the most essential increase was found in subpopulations exposed to sharp aerotechnogenous pressure. In this case the intrapopulation genotypical diversity of subpopulations exposed to high aerotechnogenous actions was lower than in the subpopulation at the usual level of the environment pollution.
