The mycelial dry weight of Sporotrichum thermophile reached a maximum of 101 +- 2 mg after 6 days of growth and then declined to 57 +- 6 mg after an additional 16 days of growth. Extracellular-reducing-sugar concentration reached its maximum range of 1.16 +- 0.3 8 mg/ml after 4 days of growth, decreasing to 0.515 +- 0.076 mg/ml after 10 days, but resumed the maximum range after 14 days and maintained it through the remaining 8 days studied. Extracellular amylase activity reached 45.2 +- 3.7 m-units after 6 days of growth, declining to 17.4 +- 0.8 m-units after an additional 16 days of growth.
