The growth pattern and development of ginger were studied over one crop cycle. The first order rhizome is the section arising directly from the seed piece. This first order rhizome will produce the first shoot above the ground. This rhizome had 90-95% of the total roots. The second order rhizome arised directly from the first order bud. The third order rhizome originated from second order buds. The third order rhizome produced an reproductive or a vegetative structure.
