History of taxonomic studies of the genus Corispermum L. (Chenopodiaceae) in North America

History of taxonomic studies of the genus Corispermum L. (Chenopodiaceae) in North America

Ukrayins'kyi Botanichnyi Zhurnal 54(1): 98-106

The article presents a concise outline of the history of taxonomic study of Corispermum L. (Chenopodiaceae) in North America. Several presumably native taxa were described from North America by T. Nuttall, P.A. Rydberg, A. Nelson and some other botanists. However, for a long time representatives of Corispermum L. were generally believed to be introduced to North America from Eurasia. As it is now dear from fossil evidence, the genus was present in North America at least 38,000 years ago.
