Abstract
Mutations were induced in four hexaploid triticale varieties (Beagle, Coorong, TL 419 and Welsh) utilizing two mutagens, gamma rays and EMS. A total of 22 morphological mutants in M-2 were isolated in all the four varieties. Segregation pattern and breeding behaviour were studied for 10 morphological mutants. The segregation pattern was recorded within the segregating row and between the rows. Segregation within the row gave a good fit to 3:1 in M-2 and M-3 and segregation between the rows gave a good fit to 1:2:1 in M-3 generation for all the mutants. All the mutants breed true in M-3 generation.
