Inheritance of enzyme activity levels and metabolite content in sheep blood

Inheritance of enzyme activity levels and metabolite content in sheep blood

Genetika i Selektsiya 27(1-2): 23-28

Sheep of the Caucasian fine fleece breed (4 rams, 47 ewes and 51 offspring) were investigated for the following biochemical characters Ast, Alt, CpK, Alb, Tl, Ca. Significant differences were found in Ast activity and Ca content in the blood of the progeny. The same two characters had high heritability values. Moderate positive phenotypic correlations were observed for Alt and Ast enzyme activity, on the one side, and Ca content, on the other.
