New species of the genus Neoechinorhynchus (Acanthocephala-Neoechinorhynchidae) , parasite of fish in Argentina

A new species of the genus Neoechinorhynchus Hamann, 1892, is described: Neoechinorhynchus villoldoi sp.n. It was found in the intestine of Corydoras paleatus (Pisces Callichthyidae) in the stream of Villoldo, Punta Indio, Partido de Magdalena, Buenos Aires, Argentina. This new species is characterized by the size of the proboscal hooks and eggs. the closest related species are: Neoechinorhynchus pterodoridis, neoechinorhynchus golvani, Neoechinorhynchus prochilodorum, Neoechinorhynchus paraguayensis and Neoechinorhynchus limi.
