The level of PCBs and ZIDDT in the eggs of five free living species of birds from the Podunajska nizina lowland was analysed by gas chromatography. Each analysed sample or eggs of Pica pica (34 eggs), Corvus frugilegus (49 eggs), Turdus merula (17 eggs) Turdus philomelos (16 eggs) and Fulica atra (31 eggs) contained residua of PCB and SIGMA-DDT. Except for Fulica atra, the average level of SIGMA-DDT was higher than that of PCBs. In Turdus merula, the PCB level was higher in the earlier clutches than in the later ones. In Pica pica this relation was also observed in the SIGMA-DDT level. In Turdus philomelos this relation was observed also in the SIGMA-DDT level. In Turdus philomelos this relation was not confirmed.
