A phytogeographical approach on the lichen flora of Sierra de Espadan (eastern Spain) is made. The species are grouped in four main groups: wide distribution species, mesogean species, species showing Mediterranean-Atlantic distribution and species with disjunct areas. Possible relationships of some taxa with ancient Mesogean Madrean-Tethyan and Arcto-Tertiary flora is discussed.
