The site Saleux "Les Coutures" was discovered during the construction of the motorway A16, linking Isle Adam to Amiens, and became the object of an urgent programmed salvage excavation. Numerous remains were uncovered, including an early Middle Age (VIIth XIth century) cemetery estimated at 2,000 sepulchres. Because of the large number of tombs, the plan of excavation and the on-site recording methods were decisive, if the entire site was to be examined.
