Rupture of the flexor pollicis longus tendon at the musculotendinous junction in a bowler

Rupture of the flexor pollicis longus tendon at the musculotendinous junction in a bowler

Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery 11(4-5): 277-278

Traumatic rupture of the flexor tendons at the musculotendinous junction is rare. A case of flexor pollicis longus tendon rupture at the musculotendinous junction is described. The mechanism of the tendon injury appears to be longitudinal traction on the contracted muscle during delivery of a bowling ball.
