Serological evaluation of immunized pigs with an inactivated experimental vaccine against swine parvovirus

Serological evaluation of immunized pigs with an inactivated experimental vaccine against swine parvovirus

Arquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinaria e Zootecnia 45(2): 161-171

ISSN/ISBN: 0102-0935

A study was made of the serological response of gilts and sows vaccinated with an inactivated vaccine against porcine parvovirus. Two doses of vaccine were used, 15 or 21 days apart. The vaccinated animals as well as the herd of origin of these animals which were formed by early medicated weaning, were free of HI antibodies. Fifteen days after the revaccination, the HI titers varied from 1/40 to 1/1280 in 87.5% of the animals. The intervals between vaccinations and the serological titers among studied groups are discussed.
