Study of growth and carcass performances of two and three breed crosses of pigs

Study of growth and carcass performances of two and three breed crosses of pigs

Zhivotnov"dni Nauki 34(7-8): 35-38

Growth and carcass performances of two and three breed crosses of pigs at breeding herd Svimes - Brestak were studied. In the study were included three groups of pigs with different origin (genotype) - I group two breed crosses (large White X Danube White), II group backcrosses (Danube White X Landrace CH) X Danube White and III group three breed crosses pigs (Large White X Landrace) X Danube White. The study embraced growth and fattening periods. Main growth, fattening and carcass traits were studied. Pigs from compared groups were with good level of growth, fattening and carcass traits. The absence of significant differences between groups points at least on two conclusions - Danube White breed is suitable for second sire position in crossing and mothers genotype does not influenced significantly growth, fattening and carcass traits of pigs. The last mentioned points on using the scheme with the easiest and rational practice - crossing Large White breed with Danube White.
