The Polish pig genome mapping project. II. Characterization of the genetic structure of generation F-2 on the basis of genetic markers

The Polish pig genome mapping project. II. Characterization of the genetic structure of generation F-2 on the basis of genetic markers

Animal Science Papers and Reports 14(3): 199-206

Genetic polymorphism of 9 blood proteins, erythrocyte antigens of 9 blood group systems, suppressor locus for the A-O blood group system, and the Lpb and Lpr lipoprotein allotypes were used to characterize the genetic structure of F-2 animals obtained as a result of crossing F-1 generation (Zlotnicka Spotted boars times Polish Large White sows - ZL and PLW, respectively). F-2 generation amounted to 723 pigs. Altogether, out of 98 phenotypes identified earlier within ZL and PLW 92 were also found in the F-2 animals. Moreover, in F-2 generation 14 new phenotypes were identified resulting from segregation of parental alleles. The genetic distance between F-2 and ZS or F-2 and PLW was 0.249 and 0.206, respectively.
