Utilization of UV light in establishing quality classes of sweet white lupin (Lupinus albus) according to alkaloid content

Utilization of UV light in establishing quality classes of sweet white lupin (Lupinus albus) according to alkaloid content

Applied Plant Science 8(1): 19-22

Regression to bitterness due to outcrossing between and within populations is a major problem in sweet white lupin. By means of UV light and titration with p-toluenesulphonic acid, five quality classes varying from very sweet to bitter have been established in two South African lupin seed mixtures using two different genotypes of bitter seeds.
