Variability, heritability, character association and genetic divergence studies in M-2 generation of gamma irradiated upland paddy

The extent of coefficient of variation indicated that sterility percentage showed highest gcv followed by grain yield/plant, plant height, spikelets/plant and tillers/plant, which proved existence of high genetic variability in induced varieties. High genetic estimates were recorded in all the characters studied. High genetic advance was observed in plant height and spikelets/panicle. Path coefficient analysis revealed that days to 50% flowering and days to maturity had largest positive direct effect on grain yield in induced varieties.
