Growth intensity and meat production of male cattle crosses of Saler bulls with cows of milking breeds

Pilot experiment with male cattle, crosses of Saler bulls by Blackmotley and Brown cows (4 groups) to study meat production have been carried-out. Control groups were formed by pure breed of mothers. Growth intensity and meat production between 6 to 15-18 month age calves have been studied. Animals were grown as free-groups and fed by rations consisting of concentrate fodder (50%), meadow and alfalfa hay plus straw. During the experimental period cattle crosses show higher grow intensity (10.2-16.1%) in comparison with pure breed cattle. At 15-th month crosses reach 431.0-432.2 kg, at 18 month 490.0-491.2 kg, superior to both purebreeds by 14.5 and 31.2 kg respectively. Increasing slaughter age, meat-output for crosses have increased with 2.0-2.5% (reached 56.5-56.7%) i.e., 0.9% more than of pure breed cattle. Analogical trend ratio-bones: meat of carcass, best one for Seler times Brown cattle have been observed. Structure indices of carcass show for crosses better results by 202-4.43% than pure breed cattle.
