Influence of packages of practices and genotypes on the yield contributing characters of Kharif groundnut

Influence of packages of practices and genotypes on the yield contributing characters of Kharif groundnut

Agricultural Science Digest 14(2): 75-78

A field experiment conducted in the Kharif season of 1989-90 with groundnut revealed that the values for the traits-dry pod, haulm and total oil yield/ha, number of branches, total and mature pods/plant, total dry matter weight and dry weights of haulm, total and mature pods/plant, shelling %, oil content (%) in kernels and 100-pod weight were significantly higher under the package of practices recommended by ICRISAT, Patancheru, A.P. (P-1) when compared with the recommended package of practices of the Department of Agriculture, MS., Pune (P-2). P-2 significantly increased the number of unfilled pods and their dry weight over P-1. In general, groundnut CV. ICGS 11, ICGS 21 and ICGS 44 showed greater values for the traits-number of branches, total, mature and unfilled pods, total dry matter weight, dry weights of haulm, total, mature and unfilled pods/plant, 100-pod and kernel weights, dry pod, haulm and oil yields/ha when compared with CV. SB times I.
