Similarities and differences in RANTES- and (AOP)-RANTES- triggered signals: implications for chemotaxis

Similarities and differences in RANTES- and (AOP)-RANTES- triggered signals: implications for chemotaxis

The Journal of Cell Biology 144(4): 5-65

The role of the chemokine RANTES and its derivative aminooxypentane (AOP)-RANTES was investigated. Both RANTES and (AOP)-RANTES triggered immediate responses such as Ca2+ influx, receptor dimerization, tyrosine phosphorylation, and association of Gai and JAK/STAT association to the receptor. However, only RANTES was able to trigger late responses. The study findings are discussed in the context of the dissociation of the late signals, induced by chemokines necessary for cell migration, from early signals.
