A consideration of cassava starch as glidant for standard lactose granulations

A consideration of cassava starch as glidant for standard lactose granulations

Acta Pharmaceutica 48(4): 295-299

ISSN/ISBN: 1330-0075

Cassava starch was evaluated for its possible inclusion in the group of the glidants applicable for improving the flow of granular systems. It was incorporated in the concentrations of up to 3% by mass into lactose granulations, and its effect on the flow of the granulations was compared with those of corn starch, talc and magnesium stearate. Results indicate that cassava starch, being positively comparable with standard glidants, may well serve as an alternative glidant for pharmaceutical granulations.
