Brachysola (Lamiaceae: Prostantheroideae), a new Western Australian genus

Brachysola Rye is described as a new genus, based on Chloanthes sect. Brachysolenia F. Muell. but with a simplified name. It belongs in Lamiaceae subfamily Prostantheroideae, resembling the genera of tribe Westringieae in its fruit but appearing more similar to tribe Chloantheae in its inflorescence, and is unique in having stellate hairs. Brachysola comprises two species and occurs in the south-west of Western Australia. A lectotype is chosen for the type species, Brachysola halganiacea (F.
