Endoscopic semiotics of functional and morphological changes of the upper part of the digestive tract in compressive stenosis of the celiac trunk

511 patients were examined with abdominal ischemia caused by compressive stenosis of the celiac trunk before and after operation. Endoscopic examination revealed atrophic gastritis in 56.1% of cases, superficial duodenitis in 75.4%. Ulcerative disease was found in 21.9% of the patients. Functional disorders of the upper digestive tract sphincters were noted in all the cases. The author suggested that the patients with endoscopically diagnosed changes of the upper digestive tract should be examined for the presence of compressive stenosis of the celiac trunk.
