First record of white grouper, Epinephelus aeneus (Serranidae) in the southeastern Adriatic

Two specimens of the white grouper, Epinephelus aeneus (Serranidae) were caught in 1998 and 1999 with drift nets in the Southeastern Adriatic Sea near Dubrovnik (42.5degree N, February 22, 1998, W = 150 g, TL= 28 cm; September 1999, W = 109 g, TL = 21.5 cm). The vertebral column of the first specimen was deformed, and this deformation was visible from the outside of the fish.
