Irrigational impact of rubber factory effluent on elemental bioaccumulation and metabolite concentration in Hordeum vulgare

Irrigational impact of rubber factory effluent on elemental bioaccumulation and metabolite concentration in Hordeum vulgare

Research Bulletin of the Panjab University Science 50(1-4): 115-126

Rubber factory effluent exhibited high magnitude of pollution. Various parameters, viz., pH, DO, BOD, COD, Chloride, Free CO2, Oil and grease exceeded tolerance limits. Brownish-black colour, foul odour and poor transparency indicated poor water quality. Concentrations of Ca, K, PO4, total nitrogen, crude protein and ether extract was significantly lower in the seeds of effluent treated Hordeum vulgare. However, concentrations of Na, Fe, SO4, total carbohydrates, total ash and chloride in these seeds were significantly higher.
