Karyomorphological studies in the genus Pogostemon Desf
Karyomorphological studies were carried out in four species of the genus Pogostemon of the family Lamiaceae. The somatic chromosome numbers have been determined in P. benghalensis (2n = 42), P. heyneanus (2n = 60), P. paniculatus (2n = 32) and P. speciosus (2n = 40). The four species of Pogostemon register patent differences pertaining to chromosome measurements such as arm ratio, relative length, centromere index, absolute and average chromosome lengths, T.F. percentage and disparity index.
