Screening techniques for the selection of the Botrytis antagonist Ulocladium atrum

The fungal saprophyte Ulocladium atrum is used to control Botrytis cinerea in a number of different crops. The methods are described which had been used to select this antagonist with a high ecological competence. Emphasis was laid on bioassays simulating growth conditions as they appear in the field instead of using artificial in vitro systems.
