Studies on the digestive physiology of Isoparorchis hypselobagri (Billet, 1898) (Digenea : Trematoda), III. General morphology of gut in adult fluke

Studies on the digestive physiology of Isoparorchis hypselobagri (Billet, 1898) (Digenea : Trematoda), III. General morphology of gut in adult fluke

Proceedings of the Zoological Society (Calcutta) 52(2): 89-113

The digestive tract of adult Isoparorchis hypselobagri is divisible into a forgut (7.36%), and a pair of sinuous caeca (92.64%). Relative length of gut (RLG) is 2.09 in an average. All the foregut organs are internally covered with a tegumental layer of different thickness. The inverted T-shaped stomach bears some finger-like projections, and its two arms extend laterally to both sides from the central 'fundus' part to form the sinuous intestinal caeca.
