Three-dimentional color power angiography and color Doppler flow imaging diagnosis of malignant thyroid tumors

Objective: To detect malignant thyroid tumor with three-dimensional color power angiography (3D-CPA) and color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI). Methods: ATL HDI-5000 ultrasonic system with L12.5 superwide frequency transducer was available. Thirty-two cases were examined by Three-dimentional CPA and CDFI. Results: The displayed rate of the cancer blood flow in 3D-CPA was higher than that of CDFI (P<0.005). Three-dimentional-CPA could stereoscopically show the network of cancer blood vessels. The blood flow signals were more abundant in tumor center than in tumor margin. CDFI showed arterial blood flow in all the tumors. The RI was higher than 0.65 shown in 28 tumors (87.5%). Conclusions: Three-dimentional-CPA can audio-visually display thyroid tumor blood vessels because of its high sensitivity.
