Yield of potato and fertility of soddy-podzolic soil at long-ferm application of fertilizers and liming with continuous seedings and crop rotation

In long-ferm field experiment conducted in Timiryazev Agricultural Academy separate application of N, P, K is slightly efficient. Combined application of potassium with nitrogen and phosphorus increased yield of potato 1.5-2.0 times. The increase in yield due to combination of nutrient elements was reduced in sequence NPK>PK>NK. The efficiency of cultivating potato in crop rotation was low. During the period less than 60% of years the yield of potato in rotation was higher than that in continuous seedings. Cultivation of potato continuously and in rotation results in much lower content of organic matter in the soil. Phosphate-potassium fertilizers made the rates of humus mineralization somewhat lower and favoured accumulation of mobile forms of phosphorus and exchangeable potassium in the soil.
