Effect of cyclosporin A on passive Heymann nephritis

Objective: Our aim was to observe the effects of cyclosporin A (CsA), a selective imunosuppresive agent, on the renal injuries in passive Heymann nephritis (PHN). Methods: Distribution of negative charges in different phases of PHN on glomerular basement membrane were measured with label method with polyethyleneimine (PEI) in vitro as a cation tracer. With CsA, the relationships among the distribution of negative charges, proteinuria, and subepithelial immune complex in models of PHN were evaluated. Results: CsA reduced the injury of glomerular basement membrane and protected the negative charges barrier. Proteinuia in models of PHN was reduced significantly. Conclusion: CsA can reduce renal injuries.
