Isolation and purification of circulating filarial antigens from microfilarial carriers

Isolation and purification of circulating filarial antigens from microfilarial carriers

Biomedical Research 16(2): 101-106

Lymphatic filariasis caused. by infection from Wuchereria bancrofti and Brugia malayi is characterized by wide spectrum of clinical manifestations that include microfilaraemic carriers with sub clinical infection and clinical cases with acute, chronic and occult presentations. The circulating filarial antigen (CFA) considered to be an indicator of active infection, was detected in most of the microfilaraemics, acute and occult filarial cases.
