Paleosols investigations of kurgans in steppe zone in the South Ural region at the Bronze Age and early Iron Age (II millennium BC-I millennium AD)

Vestnik Moskovskogo Universiteta Seriya 17 Pochvovedenie 4: 3-10

For the first time the soils formation on the ancient kurgans in the South Ural region has been investigated. Contents of carbonate, gypsum, phosphorus, potassium, soil salinity, humus substanses, particle size distribution and magnetic susceptability have been analized in paleosols buried under kurgans created at Middle Bronze Age (1600 BC), Savromat (500 BC) and Later Sarmat (400 AD) periods.
